Getting things Done by David Allen

my take …

The accidental encounter with David’s book about 10 years ago changed my life. We all lead complex existences with a ton of things - personal and professional - competing for time and energy and emotion all the time. Is there a way this tiger can be tamed leading to stress free productivity and an infinite ability to be in the moment. Absolutely. The book changed my life. I am now a trainer having practiced GTD for close to a decade. Check it out

my own GTD journey started when I was researching for a way to help my 1st line and 2nd line cope with the absolutely crazy growth trajectory we were on, building a fledgling ITServices business into a Bn dollar and mature entity. That was in 2009 and I have been a practioner then on.

What causes burnout and loss of ‘work life balance’ is not the quantum, variety and complexity of things one needs to deal with on a daily basis both personally and professionally.

We do not give our growing managers and leaders the life skills and work habits that help them appropriately prioritise their actions ( personal or professional) knowing they have a trusted system that will appropriately alert them in the right context and time. That’s when you stop tracking and managing things in your head and have an ability to enjoy the “productive experience” - ability to be engaged meaningfully in what you are into at any given point of time, knowing all your ducks are aligned and in control.

Delighted that I am now a certified GTD trainer benefitting myself and helping a lot of people life life to its full potential.
